Quality education and medical care are symbols of prestige, mainly for the residents of medium-sized cities (34 and 22% respectively). Having a car gives a high value more often residents of small towns and villages (23%) than Moscow and St. Petersburg (13%). The younger Russians, the more important for them is the opportunity to spend a holiday abroad (from 22% among the elderly and 38% among 18-4-year-olds) and visits to expensive events (from 3 to 16%, respectively). The ability to buy an apartment is a status indication, mainly for Russians younger than 45 years (24-27%). Foreign real estate is an attribute of higher status, especially for 18-24-year-olds and 35-44-year-olds (38 and 38% respectively). The latter also most likely to appreciate the opportunity to give their children a good education (37%). Medical care is often an attribute of prestige for the elderly (23%) than for young people (8%).
